Days for this Weekend

This photo is really from Superbowl Sunday!

Mr. Frankles (one of his many adorable, affectionate, nicknames) got a very short hair style. His coat feels like Chenille!

Fast forward one week and He STILL smells sooo good! I had him spritzed with Passionfruit cologne, for dogs, of course, not human cologne.

I love the look in his eyes! He didn't want to be photographed. He's saying "Mommy, I don't like picture taking!"

This blog isn't really about him. But he's worth mentioning. I washed my other dog, too, who happens to have a much less demanding coat, and that experience wasn't as positive. He didn't like where we went, the blow dryer was way too loud (it was literally a car wash / doggy self-wash) and I kinda wanted to use a pre madonna shampoo on him, which wasn't available. Mr. Frankles got a cheap blueberry facial among other bonus extras.

Whenever I did some extra difficult weight/resistance training of some kind, I tended to grunt and scream like a banshee. Apparently strength training also involves exercising demons. Hahah kidding! But the sound effects are pretty darn similar to what you might hear in the movies.

I stretched in the sauna at the gym last night. I was sooo tempted to hit the tread mill, stair master, do some balance/core training, lift weights, BUT I had to take it slow at the warning of my hubbypants and mother!

By the end of last week, my muscles were very tired and so I wasn't exactly making great progress on my push-ups as the workouts were intense. But better whip into shape now than later! I anticipate being in better shape come Monday.

Nonetheless, my muscles were a wee bit achy. I slept like a baby, until my mom woke me up to go to work in the mornings before 5:00 am. I am, for the record, completely OKAY with being woken up super early, after-all, I better get used to it. Nothing like being awoken with a Drill SGT's version of "Rise and Shine" ahahaha not exactly the same sentiment involved. Actually, I don't think the Drill SGT's sing Church camp songs to wake you up in the morning! For the record, my mother doesn't sing to me either -- she cares about my feelings.

There's a lot of other things I need to learn before boot camp, other tests that don't really have a thing to do with exercise otherwise known as "PT" which means physical training, I believe. My plan is to work on that today at a coffee shop. It's my way of "relaxing"....I'll probably hit up the sauna again... as flexibility is way crucial, or I just like the sauna! The sauna never gets tiresome in winter.

I moved back in with my family until I leave. It's great to be home, especially as my mom takes care of me. Hey, it's still OKAY to have her spoil you when you're in your 20s. Once you hit your 30s, it's not cute to be babied anymore ahahaha!

I started working out several months ago and I've made little baby steps of progress. You have to make little steps when working out although you should push yourself every time.

So I'm just rambling at this point! Thanks for reading! You're the greatest! Yes, YOU!

Love and Grunts!

Day Who Knows? : I lost count! New focus

Greetings to my dear follower(s):

So my blog will be taking a new focus for these next few weeks. I leave for boot camp in early April. I joined the military. Yay! After a lot of consideration, thinking, planning, I came to the decision that I wanted a new career and I am very fortunate to prepare for this new turn in my life by serving my country in one of the Armed Forces.

The original focus of my blog was looking at how my diet, particularly coffee drinking, impacted my skin. Well, I fudged. I had some coffee at the end of December and even some today. And my skin has shown the effects. I need to lay off!

What's probably more of a concerning matter is that I need to be in tip-top physical shape before I go to boot camp. I'm almost there, but my push-ups need some TLC.

I'll get there. Failure is not an option. I'm only interested in winning these days, not losing.

So the count-down continues and gets faster with each passing day as April 5, 2011, the day I ship out, quickly approaches.

Until I leave, I'm going to be blogging about my diet and exercise. Heck, I might throw in footage of it! I figure it might be entertaining to look back on when I finish my initial military training.

Today I hiked I think 5 miles and ran for 2 miles. I did 5 push-ups from my knees and 10 sit-ups. I'll do that and more before bed, well the push-up part not the hike or run.

I wake up in the mornings and the first thing I do are push-ups and sit-ups. My muscles are like this: "Whhhhaaaa????? Uggggghhhhh? What in the world are you doing to us????? Sooooo tired....."

I usually feel out of breath pretty quickly in the mornings, too. It's one heck of a way to shock your system.

All for now, kiddos. Thanks for following me. I'm sorry I've been so neglectful in my journey with you or you all. Life happened and I fell off the blogging wagon.

Much love,

JNEL
